Dursey Island

My first time in this neck at the very tip of the Beara Peninsula and was completely blown away by it. It’s a fabulous landscape with amazing coastal scenery.

The history of the Island is fascinating and i’ve since learned a lot more since I came home and did more research.
It is the one problem I have when going to new places, I read up enough so I know here i’m going, but I try not to get too involved so as not to ruin the surprise.

The cable car is €10 return , and can take 6 people , or 1 large animal 😆
It actually says this on a sign , that I should have taken a picture of.

The overall hike was around 13km, which is a bit longer than expected, with the out leg being on the old road and the return going over the hills.

I absolutely loved this hike, and would hope to return here again before the busy summer season starts.
Also, when it will be a bit calmer so I can do more drone footage, I liked the effect of the reveal of the lighthouse.

Anyway,
Thanks for visiting
Ed
