Peakeen Ridge Loop

A thoroughly enjoyable hike around the Sheep’s Head Peninsula in West Cork, Ireland.

It’s a peninsula I was always going to do, but it just seemed so far away. It’s a bit mad considering its in the same county where i’m from, but its way off down on the tip… anyway…

I’m not going to go into detail as much as usual. As i’m doing more talking on YouTube now, I feel i’ll only be repeating myself here.

TLDR; Its a great hike and I will definitely be spending more time on the Sheep’s Head Peninsula throughout the summer. There’s just a really special feel about the place.

One thing I will say, that I didn’t mention in the video, is regarding the drive home. I always thought the Dingle Peninsula around Baile na hAbha was isolated. It’s nothing compared to the Sheep’s Head. It was most noticeable when driving home from the lighthouse. It had just begun to get dark and you really get a sense of how isolated it is down there. There were dark unlined roads, no lights, no houses, nothing , until you get to Kilcrohane. It was awesome and i’ll definitely get there for sunrise and sunset during the summer.

Here are a few images from the trip not shown on the video.

As always, thanks again was reading here.
