The Paps are in the Derrynasaggart Mountains on the Cork Kerry Border (they are in Kerry just to be clear).
Its an area steeped in history and the website Voices from the Dawn has all the info.
This was my first time approaching from the north. Parked at The City (W 138 882) and the start of the trailhead is only a few meters away.
No descernible path that i could make out. A local i met before heading up said follow your nose and aim for the peak, they also said the heather was high, and they was very much right. Some parts were a tough slog with not even a sheep path to fall back on.
