Coumshingaun

Coumshingaun is one of the most popular hikes in the country outside of the main mountains.

Down in the Comeragh Mountains in Waterford it was my first time in this neck of the woods.
Like all new places I was a bit anxious going down to, but once on the mountain, the anxiety left and even though it was my first time the mountains put me at ease.

This hike had a lot more involved in it that I had expected. A lot more scrambling and a lot of rocks that needed navigating that I hadn’t really seen mentioned before.

It was a pity with the fog at the top when I was up there and as is usually the case, when I got down to the lower elevation on the way home, the bloody top was clear. It was really enjoyable hike and the scrambling heading up was enjoyable without being too taxing. Coming out the very back of the ridge up onto the wall at the back was a lot more intimidating than I expected. Im was ok with it,, but I would imagine it’s a place where many people have just turned around. I hadn’t really heard much about that section if im being honest.
As I mentioned in the video , coming down the other side was also a lot more challenging than I had expected.

Not a great day for pictures, but the ones I got are a nice documentation an enjoyable day on the mountains

Overall, really enjoyable, but a lot tougher and more technical than I had expected.
