This was a belter.

Arrived at my park up in the dark. It had been another long drive up and was being teased by the mountain shapes on the way up
Came up thru Oughterard and the Maamturks. Turning at Maam cross was a difficult choice as the sky behind the mountains and in the CLiffden direction was simply fantastic. An intense pink colour at sunset gave me great pause for thought before deciding the continue my journey to Doolough. It was. pure clear nice with no wind, the road was quite and I slept well.

Woke the next morning to quiet the suprise, being totally cover in cloud. It was obviously a cloud inversion in the lake so after a bit of food, the next hour was all panic with vlogging, drone and photography. Got some nice shots and really happy with the drone footage. It made a nice start to the video.

That was it then, onto the park up for the hike , which was just a bit further up the road towards the Famine Memorial with a load of spaces by the road side. I only read the notice board on the memorial the following day, of which I was glad, as the story is tragic, I’d have just been thinking about those poor people when hiking up if i’d read it on hike day. Doolough Tragedy on Wikipedia

The hike is all covered in the video. I seemed to be slow to get going, but with the lake reflections and everything I was very distracted.

The video then covers it all. I left in the bits of me looking wrecked, becuase, well, I was wrecked. It’s a tough day

The images at the start of the day came out really well I think, i’m really happy with them. As I said in the video, there was no photography really in the middle of the day, everything was just washed out, great to look at, not great for photography tho. I just wish I had brought my 100-500 with me, it was too heavy for this type of hike, took up too much room and I think I took maybe 3 shots with it, that were no good.

The images of the bad weather are from the Sunday when I was making my way down.

The drive down thru the Meeturks and Galways was simply spectacular. It took me about 3 hours to get from Doolough to the other side of Galway, which is probably a2 hours drive at most. The mountains are cool looking , but also look like tight hikes, from what I could see. We’ll find out probably next year at this stage..

I pulled into Aashleagh Falls for a look on the way down, The salmon were jumping, it’s a pretty nice spot if busy on a Sunday, I can understand why tho.

Right,
That’s me done, hanks for reading
