Mizen Head

No Video for this one, just some shots from a day below at Mizen Head and Three Castle Head,.

It was very busy at Mizen Head, it was a fine day after all. Not sure it’s a place you could return to a few times as it looks like it €7.50 to go into any interesting parts, even the first look out point below the building. Fine for the one day. I had been there once a long long time ago but the memories had faded so it was nice to revisit it. There are some impressive cliffs alright from the bridge especailly, but all around to be fair. Not sure what the story is in bad weather, suppose i’ll just have to find out.

The. onto Three Castle Head. A fine carpark with a €3 charge with a lot of signs telling you what you can’t do, which was a bit off putting tbh,. IT’s a nice easy walk up thru the fields to the first ridge where you see the castle for the first time. It’s an incredibly impressive scene when it presents itself after coming over the brow of the hill with some mighty cliffs on the left. You could spend ages here if you want. I did walk over to the little cairn that is visible beyond the castle and you could walk on further to the end of the lake where the wall is, but I didn’t bother this time,,, will save it for another time.

It took 2.5 hours for me to get down here, and that’s all with the County of Cork. I had hoped to stay but it was too busy, I can wait until later in the year when it’s quieter. Here’s the shots,
